WHO ARE THEY ?
Chickenhawk were Born in 2004 and after constant touring a self released 3 track demo was recorded in 2005 & their debut album in 2007. The band joined the Brew Family mid 2009. Over the last year, Chickenhawk has undergone several radical changes. Matt Reid (ex-Whores Whores Whores drummer) joined mid 2008 as the debut album was due to be released, and Paul Astick moved from drums/vocals to guitar/vocals. ‘A.Or Not? was released in September 2009, the first release for Chickenhawk on Brew. The EP received international acclaim and lead track ‘I hate this, do you like it?’ gained national radio play from the likes of Radio 1, Radio 6 & XFM. During early 2009 the space themed ‘NASA Vs ESA’ video was created with Roach Productions. Coinciding with this, the band were also busy putting the finishing touches to the recently released ‘A. Or Not?’ EP on Brew. After its completion the band worked with NME photographer Danny North on his directorial debut, the zombie themed video for a new track taken from A. Or Not? – ‘I hate this, do you like it?’. Writing and recording for a brand new Chickenhawk album scheduled for release in April 2010 has begun, and will see the band further diversifying but still staying true to their own style of noise rock experimentation
NME Magazine – Track of the week ‘I Hate This, Do You Like It? Leeds based Chickenhawk are a group of riff thrasing metal bastards from the wrong side of your worst hangover. Take note, their drummer hits harder than the last time you dreamed you were Todd Trainer. This is the perfect raw vocal antidote to chirpy summer singalongs.
Artrocker – This EP is merciless, and I urge any fan of beastly rock and metal to nestle it next to your sweaty hearts.
Steve Lamacq “Crazed guitar rock from Leeds….featuring the ‘Beachers Brook’ of guitar solo’s” – ‘I Hate This Do You Like It’ on Radio 6.
Rock-A-Rolla Truely their own vision, no matter how skewed a vision that maybe.
Kerrang – Killer chaotic freaked-out prog-core KKKK
